The driving theory test was introduced back in 1997 and has become an essential step for obtaining a full UK driving licence. It comprises 50 questions and a hazard perception section, and you’ll need at least 43 correct answers to pass. These questions focus on road signs, safety practices, the Highway Code, and real-life driving scenarios. From understanding how to share the road with pedestrians and cyclists to recognising all those tricky road signs, there’s a lot to learn!

πŸš‘ Starting Autumn 2025, there will even be new first aid questions, covering CPR and using AEDs. It’s all about being prepared and keeping everyone safe on the road!

Despite the challenges, around 2.4 million theory exams are taken each year, with a pass rate of only 45.7%. These stats might seem daunting, but remember, there’s no limit to how many times you can take the test (with just a Β£23 fee per attempt).

Ready for a challenge? We’ve created a mini version of the test for you to try. Can you score 17 out of 20 and prove you’ve got what it takes? It’s based on the official DVSA practice questions. Give it a shot and let us know your score in the comments! 🌟

Good luck, and remember, every test makes you a better driver. πŸš˜πŸ’‘
