🇺🇦 Big Talks in Washington for a Lasting Peace in Ukraine 🌍

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is teaming up with key European leaders as they prepare to stand firmly alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in crucial discussions set to take place in Washington, D.C. The goal? To protect Ukraine from giving in to Russian demands in exchange for peace.

Catch the squad heading to the White House: France’s Emmanuel Macron, Germany’s Friedrich Merz, Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, and Finland’s Alexander Stubb. They’ll be joined by NATO chief Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The focus is on counteracting any push by US President Donald Trump for Zelensky to agree to Russian control over vital regions in Ukraine, potentially in exchange for a partial military retreat by Kremlin forces. The European leaders are clear—it’s up to Ukraine to shape its own peaceful future, emphasising a resolution that’s both “just and lasting.”
Amid these discussions, Trump has seemingly shifted focus from an immediate ceasefire to crafting a long-term peace plan. His Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, admits there’s still plenty of work to be done before any deal is sealed.
Leadership from across the pond are also keen to hear Trump’s thoughts on giving security assurances to a ‘coalition of the willing’. Sir Keir was among those welcoming Trump’s openness to ensuring security but says they’ll need more details.
As this diplomatic chess game unfolds, it’s clear that all involved are chasing one thing: a stable, peaceful Ukraine, free from the shadow of conflict. Let’s hope this pivotal meeting brings us closer to that reality. 🌟
