With minimal opportunities on the field, Rees-Zammit felt like his talent was going to waste. “I was just fed up with not being able to showcase what I could do,” he admitted, and that’s when he knew it was time to return to rugby, where his heart truly lies.
Despite the NFL’s cutthroat nature and not having the same chances as players who came through US college systems, Rees-Zammit said he gave it his all. Still, nothing compares to the thrill of rugby, and now he’s back on familiar turf.
Rees-Zammit will face the Leicester Tigers in his comeback match, aiming to impress Wales’ new head coach, Steve Tandy. “I picked the perfect team to continue my journey,” he said, full of hope and determination.
