🔥 Talk about a plan backfiring! Tony James, a 34-year-old drug dealer from Corby, got more than he bargained for when he attempted to torch a car and ended up setting himself on fire. This fiery mishap not only landed him in A&E with serious burns but also led to a four-year stay behind bars.

On February 19, under the cover of night, James tried to set a blue Mazda alight on Fotheringhay Road. Instead of sneaking away quietly, he found himself ablaze, causing £5,500 worth of damage and drawing the attention of Northamptonshire Police. 🚔

When officers followed the trails of the investigation to his caravan on Burghley Drive, things went from bad to worse for James. Inside, they uncovered nearly £10,000 worth of cocaine along with cannabis. Faced with undeniable evidence, James pleaded guilty to arson with intent to endanger life and drug charges. His courtroom appearance on June 26 sealed his fate, and by August 18, the gavel had landed on a four-year prison sentence.
PC Jarrod Staughton praised the work of his team, noting the intricate details like forensic evidence on a lighter and CCTV footage that cracked the case wide open. Not only did this investigation bring justice, but it also highlighted the meticulous efforts of the local Response officers.
It’s a stark reminder that crime doesn’t pay, and sometimes, it burns in more ways than one. 😳💥 #CrimeNews #JusticeServed #CorbyNews
