Cardiff schools are making waves as they outshine the rest of Wales in the latest GCSE results! With more than 1 in 4 students snagging those coveted A*-A grades, the city’s schools are truly excelling. The stats speak for themselves: 26.4% of Cardiff entries achieved A*-A grades, compared to the national average of 19.5%. Cardiff’s A*-C grades stand at an impressive 68%, exceeding the Wales average of 62.5%.
Meet the standout stars – twins Felipe and Jose Orbezo from Mary Immaculate High, who together earned a stunning 17 A*/A grades! 🌟
Since the return to normal exam conditions in 2024, Cardiff has been on the rise. Compared to 2019, the city’s A*-G grades increased to 96.8%, A*-C rose to 68%, and A*-A leapt to 26.4%. It’s fantastic to see such progress, reflecting the hard work and determination of Cardiff’s students and educators.
Cllr Sarah Merry, Cardiff Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for education, praised the results as “outstanding,” highlighting the commitment and effort of students. The city is not only keeping pace but setting a benchmark for educational success in the nation.
