Dismissive Reaction: Woman’s Laughter in Response to Sexual Abuse of Child

A woman named Leah Church has been sentenced to five years in prison for multiple child cruelty offences. During a chilling trial, it emerged that she dismissed the disturbing abuse of a young boy by two men in the back of a car with just a laugh. Aged 37, Church was found guilty of these crimes which took place in the Neath area, following testimonies from her young victims.

Prosecutors painted a picture of the lasting psychological trauma her actions inflicted on these children. Despite having a past littered with convictions for public disorder and criminal damage, Church’s defence claimed her life is now more stable, though the judge saw fit to impose a strong sentence.

She will be imprisoned for up to half her sentence before being released on licence and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the next decade. Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Amanda Jenkins of South Wales Police applauded the brave victims for stepping forward and praised the support provided throughout the investigation that led to the conviction.
