A family in Cardiff mourns the loss of their “cherished daughter” Nirodha Niwunhella, who was tragically murdered on Thursday morning in Riverside. Nirodha, just 32 years old, is remembered as a “dear friend to many” and a beacon of kindness and warmth. Her family says, “Though her life ended too soon, the love she shared will always remain with us. Rest in peace, angel.”
Police rushed to South Morgan Place at 7:37 am following reports of a seriously injured woman. Despite paramedics’ efforts, Nirodha sadly passed away at the scene. A 37-year-old man, known to Nirodha, was arrested shortly after on Seawall Road and remains in custody as investigations continue.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses, especially anyone who might have seen a grey Ford Fiesta in areas like South Morgan Place, Seawall Road, Wellington Street, Clare Road, Penarth Road, or East Tyndall Street between 7:30 and 8:30 am. If you have any information, CCTV or dashcam footage, please come forward and assist the police in their investigation.
