A flying lesson near Shanklin Road on Monday morning ended in tragedy for the passengers of the Robinson R44 II helicopter. While one person was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital, three sadly lost their lives.
Julia’s partner, Jacob Butler, has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of repatriating Justyna and Wojtek to Poland, where they can be laid to rest with their families. Jacob shared their heartache, explaining that the sudden loss has left their family struggling to cope. They’re asking for any support to help give Justyna and Wojtek the farewell they deserve.
Julia expressed her grief on Facebook, writing, “I have no words, the world took my mum too soon. She was the best mum you could ask for, loved by everyone. Please, if anyone could help bring them back to Poland so they can be with their families, it would mean the world to me.”
A spokesperson for Northumbria Helicopters confirmed that the Robinson R44 II aircraft, which had departed Sandown Airport, was involved in the crash. Witnesses reported seeing the helicopter spiral before coming down near a hedge. Emergency services, including local fire crews and an Air Accidents Investigation Branch team, responded swiftly to the scene, while a local MP noted the tragic turn of events.
