A massive wildfire at Clydach Dingle, Brynmawr, is making headlines as it continues to rage on. Firefighters from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have been working tirelessly since Sunday, August 25, to tackle the blaze, which has been smouldering for weeks. The fire, which has devoured about 70 hectares, can be seen from miles away, casting a smoky haze over the region and causing quite the spectacle from the A465.
Residents in the area are feeling the heat—literally! They’ve been advised to keep their windows and doors shut due to heavy smoke and a strong, unpleasant odour that’s sweeping through the locality, particularly in Beaufort. One resident mentioned it’s been a smoky, smelly situation for nearly three weeks!
Despite the relentless efforts of crews equipped with all-terrain vehicles and appliances from Tredegar, Maesteg, Tonypandy, Brynmawr, and Ebbw Vale, the fire is predicted to continue smouldering over 50 hectares. The situation remains under close watch with regular inspections.
