Workers had originally planned to down tools in early September, with a whopping 95% voting in favour of the action. But wait! The negotiations brought a new deal to the forefront, and now it’s over to the Unite union members to have their say.

Rhys McCarthy from Unite couldn’t be happier as he shared, “We’ve secured an improved offer from Airbus. It’s now up to our members to take a vote.” He also mentioned that as a gesture of goodwill, all strike actions are postponed for now. 🤝

The initial offer didn’t cut it for the workers. There was a two-year deal on the table with 3.6% followed by 3.15% increases, alongside some pension perks. But! It was the non-management workers who said “no thanks” and pushed for more.

Airbus then tried another approach with a one-year deal at 3.3%, and a small top-up in 2026. Sweetening the pot, there’s also a non-consolidated payment option of £200. Decisions, decisions! 🤔

If the new proposal doesn’t win hearts, keep your eyes peeled for possible strikes resuming later in the month. It’s a game of wait-and-see now. Stay tuned for more updates as the workers cast their votes.

What do you think of the new offer? Is it a fair deal for the hardworking folks at Airbus? Let us know your thoughts! 🛫💬
