🚴‍♂️ Cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy is back in the saddle, but this time it’s personal! Recently on BBC Breakfast, Hoy shared an update on his battle with prostate cancer. Diagnosed two years ago, the condition is now at stage four, having spread to his bones. Despite the challenges, his determination shines through as he gears up for the ‘Tour de Four’ charity ride.
Hoy’s mantra? “Riding together against cancer.” This event is more than just cycling; it’s a mission to change how we view stage four cancer. Sir Chris, who’s known for his indomitable spirit, invites everyone capable to ride along and support the cause. And he’s not doing it alone—tennis superstar Andy Murray will be at his side, amongst many others.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there! Legendary electronic duo, the Chemical Brothers, are set to perform live at the event. As optimism and excitement build, the charity ride isn’t just about awareness—it’s about action. With a fundraising goal initially set at ÂŁ1 million already surpassed, hitting ÂŁ2 million looks well within reach.
Sir Chris’s optimism is infectious, saying, “It’s just fantastic that we are finally here.” Thousands will take to the roads around Glasgow, not only celebrating the spirit of togetherness but also raising much-needed funds for cancer charities across the UK.
It’s humour and hope that Hoy brings to the table. When asked about Andy Murray’s cycling chops, he chuckled, admitting that Murray might be a tad more focused on golf these days, but is fit as a fiddle nonetheless.
