🚨 High Street Alert! 🚨

Big news in the world of British retail: Bodycare, the popular beauty retailer, has collapsed into administration, resulting in the permanent closure of 32 stores across the UK. With shops in Wales like Wrexham, Newport, Rhyl, and Port Talbot already saying their goodbyes, Cwmbran’s store is now the last one standing in the country.

Founded in 1970 from humble beginnings as a Lancashire market stall, Bodycare built a reputation for offering big brands like L’Oreal and Nivea. But with financial struggles piling up, the chain’s secured a £7 million debt facility wasn’t enough to save the day. Around 450 employees now face redundancy, and for any online shoppers out there, the website also states, “Sorry, the shop you are looking for is closed right now. Please try again later.”
Yet it’s not all gloom for the high street. Administrators are exploring options to potentially sell the business or its assets and hope to keep the remaining stores open for now. In a ray of hope, Poundland and River Island have both announced restructuring plans to claw back from the brink.
Heartfelt thoughts go out to all affected staff and communities. If you’re a Bodycare fan, pop into Cwmbran to stock up on your favourites while you still can! 💄🛍️
