A deeply disturbing case has come to light involving Rocco Malanti, a 51-year-old from Ebbw Vale, who was sentenced to over 12 years in prison for grooming and sexually abusing two young girls. The offences occurred when the victims were under 16, leaving them traumatised.

In a powerful sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court, victims bravely faced Malanti, who exploited their youth and trust. One victim painfully recounted how the abuse felt as routine as “having a cup of tea” due to being “programmed” by Malanti, while the other expressed harm so significant that it stole her childhood and innocence.

The heinous acts included grooming through manipulation, providing alcohol and cigarettes, and performing multiple sexual acts against their will. Prior to his arrest, Malanti attempted to manipulate the situation further by threatening self-harm if the victims reported him.
Despite initially denying the charges, Malanti eventually pleaded guilty. His sentence includes an extended licence period and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, guarding against further offences. The court commended the young women for their bravery, acknowledging that no sentence could undo the harm caused, but justice has been served.
Remember, speaking out against such crimes takes immense courage, and support is available for anyone in similar situations. Stay informed and aware; this is a reminder of the importance of vigilance in protecting the vulnerable.
