🚨 Alert: Giant Asian Hornets on the Rise! 🚨

Get ready, Britain! A massive hornet invasion could be around the corner. Currently, 500 nests of these buzzing giants have been discovered on Jersey. That’s a staggering four times more than last year! Jersey, just off the UK coast, is now the frontline in keeping these intrusive insects at bay. 🐝

Each nest can house up to 10,000 hornets—yes, you read that right! They first arrived from mainland Europe nine years ago, and their numbers are swelling each year. As spotting increases, there’s more pressure on Jersey’s overstretched hornet reporting system. More hands are needed to tackle this issue! 🙌

John De Carteret from the Jersey Asian Hornet Group urges public vigilance. “Seeing more nests means we’re getting ahead, but there’s a lot more to do,” he says. Every report counts, but with limited resources, they’re urging everyone to chip in.
Earlier this year, research revealed that Asian hornets are not picky eaters. Scientists found 1,400 different species in their diet, including our beloved honey bees, wasps, flies, and even butterflies and spiders. 🦋
While Jersey is doing its best to handle the situation, the threat is real. So, if you’re in the area and see one, report it! Let’s keep Britain safe from this buzzing menace. Stay aware and stay safe! 🌍
