Andrew Rees, a 25-year-old from Llanelli, found himself on the wrong side of the law and in hot water at Swansea Crown Court. With boasts of having the “best in town” cocaine, it would seem that crime didn’t quite pay the way Rees imagined.
Police raids revealed his bustling trade of cocaine and cannabis, alongside texts and Snapchats pitching deals from £80 to £950. For Mr Rees, it was all fun and games until a small bag in his garden put 136g of cocaine back onto police radar.
While he kept mum during questioning, the indisputable evidence meant Rees pleaded guilty to multiple charges including possession with intent to supply. During sentencing, his family made a heartfelt plea for him to change his ways or risk wasting the prime years of his life behind bars.
Judge Geraint Walters, echoing the family’s sentiments, reminded everyone of the real victims here: those around Andrew who suffer alongside him. With a three-year custodial sentence (a third off for guilty pleas), perhaps this stint will serve as the wake-up call Rees needs to turn his life around.
