π§οΈπ Major Roundabout in Swansea Still Submerged! ππ§οΈ

If you’ve been around Swansea lately, you’ll know what we’re talking about! After a weekend of heavy rainfall, our beloved Cwmbwrla roundabout is still more of a pond than a road. Flash floods hit hard, leaving cars afloat and commuters scratching their heads.

Here’s what happened: Torrential downpours over the weekend caused chaos, with areas around Swansea taking a heavy beating. Particularly affected was the Cwmbwrla roundabout, a key route in the city, which has been underwater since Sunday. The flood has made it impassable and traffic has been redirected to Pentregethin Road.

But why is it taking so long to drain? π§ Swansea Council has revealed the likely culprit is a collapsed culvert on private land. They, alongside Welsh Water, are working tirelessly to pump out the floodwater. The council had previously ensured nearby watercourses and their own culverts were clear, so this is an unexpected twist.
Rest assured, a fleet of pumps is on the job trying to lower water levels, with safety inspections and clean-up planned next. This route is crucial, and weβre all crossing our fingers it reopens soon. Until then, motorists are advised to stick to alternative routes.
π‘ Stay safe and keep an eye out for further updates as we await the reopening of Cwmbwrla roundabout. ππ·ββοΈ
