Exciting news for Pontypridd! 🍔 Plans are in the works for a brand-new McDonald’s drive-thru at Gelli-Hirion Business Park. It’s set to share the car park with a Tesco Extra, known locally as ‘Upper Boat’. This could mean more than just your favourite Big Mac – it’s a potential game-changer for the local economy!

The proposed single-storey restaurant will feature a drive-thru lane, customer order displays, and parking, including accessible bays, EV charging points, and spaces for motorcycles and cycles. Plus, the new branch could bring up to 110 jobs to the area, boosting local employment and generating about ÂŁ58,000 in annual business rates.
The public consultation is now open, and it’s your chance to have a say! 🗣️ Running until midnight on 1st October, the consultation allows locals to share their thoughts on the development before plans are submitted to the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.

Rebecca Ross from McDonald’s shares her enthusiasm: “Transforming a part of the Tesco Extra car park into a lively McDonald’s spot offers fantastic opportunities for the community and visitors. We’re eager to ensure our plans align with local needs and excited to hear your feedback.”
