In a heart-wrenching turn of events in Worthing, an 80-year-old man, lovingly known as Tony, has passed away following a severe incident. On 11th September, police responded to a welfare check at a residence on Westcourt Road around 8:20 PM. Tony was rushed to hospital with critical injuries but sadly succumbed to them three days later.
A 39-year-old male, initially arrested for assault, has now been re-arrested on suspicion of Tony’s murder. Authorities confirm the two men were acquainted.
Detective Inspector Amanda Zinyama from the Major Crime Team expressed, “This is a tragic incident. Our thoughts are with Tony’s family and friends.” In the search for answers, the police are reaching out to anyone who might have seen or aided Tony between 7:20 PM and 7:40 PM on that Thursday.
