Heartbreaking Story of a Dad Gone Too Soon 💔
We’re deeply saddened to share the tragic story of David, a 36-year-old dad from Ramsgate, Kent, whose life was cut short in a freak accident. While working on a housing estate in November 2023, David was distracted by a passing road sweeper and fell into an open manhole. Despite the valiant efforts of firefighters and paramedics, David couldn’t be saved.
Rachel, David’s partner, reflects on this unimaginable loss with incredible strength. The couple’s children, Jack and Poppy, have been her greatest motivation in these tough times. “Our lives changed forever,” Rachel shared. “Grief is a horrific rollercoaster, but my kids deserve happiness, and they are my drive.”
To honour David’s memory, Rachel founded the OGGA Foundation BRAVE, a charity dedicated to helping children who have lost a parent. Named after David’s nickname ‘Ogga’, the charity supports children up to 12 years old, offering them play-based sessions and a safe space to express their emotions. “We call it a party, and that’s exactly what I wanted,” Rachel said. “We form friendships, and offer help so no child feels alone.”
Rachel remains committed to keeping David’s memory alive for Jack and Poppy. “We talk about Daddy every day,” she said. “Life will never be the same, but my kids deserve to feel loved and safe, and that keeps me going.”
