🚗👮♂️ Ever wondered why the roads feel a bit lonelier without those familiar police cars? New research reveals a significant drop in road policing officers across England and Wales—down by more than a fifth in the past decade! 🚓📉

Back in March, the RAC discovered there were only 3,889 traffic officers, a sharp decline from 5,005 in 2015. This has raised eyebrows about how effectively motoring laws are being enforced now.

RAC’s Simon Williams is sounding the alarm, urging either a boost in traffic officer numbers or introducing other impactful measures to reign in rule-breaking drivers. From speeding to drink-driving, and using mobile phones while driving, motorists are growing increasingly concerned about the threat posed by those ignoring the rules of the road.
While automatic number plate recognition cameras have become more prevalent, the absence of visible police presence might be contributing to the carefree attitudes of some drivers. Many believe that the deterrent effect of those ‘cops in cars’ is something we shouldn’t underestimate.
