The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has made a significant move by bringing aboard Gavin Marshall as their new Chief Operating Officer! Previously the CEO of the Bristol Sport Group, Gavin is set to join an already impressive executive team working hard to enhance Welsh rugby’s professional game.
Starting November 3rd, Gavin will oversee key areas like Finance, Stadium Operations, Event Delivery, Technology Operations, and Legal. He’s no stranger to success, having driven growth across multiple sports teams during his time in Bristol. Being a proud Welshman, he describes joining the WRU as a “dream come true.”
This announcement comes as the WRU is re-evaluating the structure of professional rugby in Wales, including the potential reduction of men’s teams. With the Union’s board discussing big changes this October, it’s undoubtedly a pivotal time for Welsh rugby.
WRU Chair Richard Collier-Keywood couldn’t be more pleased, stating, “Gavin is a hugely experienced operator who will bring operational and financial rigour to our team.”
