Heartbreak as Beloved Mum-of-Two Passes at 33

The local community is mourning the loss of Jodie Matthews, a beloved mum-of-two and cherished Cardiff University worker, who passed away at just 33 after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Jodie, from Gelli, was a proud and dedicated senior housekeeper, remembered for her laughter and kindness. She leaves behind her two children, Caitlin and Caden, and a family reeling from her unexpected loss.

Her sister, Rachel, fondly recalls Jodie’s energetic spirit, saying, “She was the life of the party, always surrounded by friends and known for her wicked laugh.” Despite undergoing extensive cancer treatment, Jodie remained hopeful and drew strength from her online community, sharing her journey and motivating others.
Rachel hopes Jodie’s story highlights the importance of regular health check-ups. “If her journey encourages even one person to get their smear test, there’s a lesson in it,” she shared.
A fundraiser in Jodie’s memory has already raised over £1,800, celebrating her inspirational life and dedication to family, friends, and work. Her resilience and optimism will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Rest in peace, Jodie. Your light continues to shine through the lives you touched.
