💃✨ Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden shares her inspiring journey of strength and recovery after battling breast cancer. Diagnosed in 2023, the 35-year-old dancer has bravely opened up about the tough path she’s been on, revealing the real fears and challenges she faced along the way.

🩺 Amy underwent a mastectomy followed by intense chemotherapy, eventually announcing in February 2024 that she showed ‘no evidence of the disease.’ Yet, recovery wasn’t a quick dance routine—Amy describes it as a ‘hard slog’ and a ‘very scary time’ filled with cancellations of shows and uncertainty about her future in dance.

🎙️ In the Breast Cancer Uncovered podcast, Amy candidly talks about reimagining life with a blank schedule and questions about when—or if—her normal life would resume. Her story resonates with many as she continues to advocate for breast cancer awareness and encourages regular self-examinations.
🧐 Keep an eye out for possible signs of breast cancer, including lumps, changes in breast size or shape, or unusual nipple discharge. The NHS advises checking your breasts monthly to know what’s normal for you, making it easier to spot any alarming changes.
📅 Women aged 50-71 are typically invited for NHS breast screenings every three years, but if you notice any unusual changes, see your GP—regardless of age. Remember, lumps can have various causes, often non-serious, but don’t play doctor at home.
