To improve conditions, the Swansea Bay University Health Board is moving West Ward patients to Singleton Hospital’s Ward 3. This change promises better leadership, safety, and 24/7 wrap-around support. Plus, a deeper review is on the cards to align services with a broader clinical plan for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.

It’s important to note: Gorseinon Hospital is not closing! It’s an essential facility providing other key services, and it will continue to do so. The space left behind by West Ward might be used for other healthcare needs in the meantime.

Over 2,000 locals from Gorseinon have signed a petition to save West Ward, showcasing strong community spirit. 💪

Health board officials assure us that staff are ready for the transition, and there’s a plan in place to reduce the reliance on temporary staff. Travel expenses for Gorseinon staff moving to Singleton will also be covered. Let’s hope this move brings the needed improvements for everyone involved! 🤞
