First Minister Eluned Morgan is calling for a touch of Welsh pride on the UK’s upcoming digital ID cards by featuring the iconic Welsh dragon! π Last week, the UK Government unveiled plans for a new free digital ID, aiming to simplify identity checks and reduce illegal migration. While the digital ID will become mandatory, officials assure there will be no need to carry it around.

Speaking passionately at the Labour Party conference, Eluned shared her vision for the digital cards. “We need that Welsh dragon on there,” she insists, gearing up to lobby the UK Government for this change. With Scotland’s Anas Sarwar present, she quipped that he might push for a Scottish inclusion too!

Eluned didn’t hold back on other hot topics, including national politics. She defended her strong words against political opponents, branding them as “different poison, same bottle,” highlighting the divisive nature of nationalism. On Labour leader Keir Starmer, she praised his serious, grown-up approach amidst the legacy of past political turmoil.
As Eluned looks ahead to the next election, she emphasises the importance of delivering for Wales while acknowledging the impact of current government unpopularity. Itβs all about unity and progress! π
