Vernon Kay recently opened up about a hiccup on the live show of Strictly Come Dancing involving his wife, Tess Daly. On the season’s first live episode, all 15 celebrity pairs took to the dance floor. However, a minor off-camera glitch caused a stir among fans, with some even calling for Tess to be replaced.

During a chat with Sara Cox on his BBC Radio 2 show, Vernon discussed the unpredictability of live television. Just as the cabaret performer La Voix was about to perform, a moment of confusion struck. Claudia Winkleman, in the middle of a chat with EastEnders’ Balvinder Sopal, had to seamlessly adjust when Tess wasn’t quite ready for her cue.

What happened? Instead of making a dramatic entrance from above on a pony, La Voix was already on stage. But Vernon applauded the presenters for handling it like pros, saying, “Nobody would’ve known any different!”
While some viewers on social media suggested replacing Tess with La Voix next season, others were quick to defend her. One fan shared their support, pointing out Tess’s warmth and ability to ease contestants’ nerves, stating, “She’s a great foil for the judges, especially Craig.” Another added, “Everyone is always so mean to Tess, please, she’s just trying her best.”
