Exciting developments are on the horizon for Llanharan! 🚗✨ Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has just unveiled fresh details about the proposed Llanharan bypass, aiming to make life a lot smoother for locals. This new Sustainable Transport Corridor promises to tackle those pesky issues like congestion, road safety, and air quality along the A473.

Here’s the scoop: the plan is to build a brand new 4km transport corridor, complete with a walking and cycling route. This would connect the A473 east of Llanharan with A473 New Road, all while improving connectivity and safety.
What’s new? The bypass will be split into two main sections – an eastern section stretching 1.8km and a shorter 0.6km western section. Plus, there’s a middle section that will join the dots, part-built by a housing developer! 🚴♂️

But wait, there’s more! The project will create handy new junctions, bus prioritisation at key spots, and a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists. To keep things eco-friendly, the council plans to use acoustic fencing, plant trees, and improve drainage for those rainy Welsh days!

With this project, the council is keen to align with the Welsh Government’s sustainable transport vision. The goal? To boost walking, cycling, and public transport, all while enhancing local ecology and connectivity.
Got opinions or questions? The conversation is open from September 29 to October 27. Whether online or in-person at local events, make sure your voice is heard!
