πͺοΈ Brace yourselves, the UK’s in for a blustery ride this weekend as Storm Amy approaches with winds up to 95mph! The Met Office has issued yellow and amber warnings across the country, predicting travel chaos, power cuts, and potentially dangerous conditions.

π§οΈ For those in the north and west of Scotland, an amber alert is in effect from Friday evening to Saturday morning, with warnings of “danger to life” from flying debris and damage to buildings. The whole of Scotland, the north of England, and the western parts of Wales are on yellow alert for gusty conditions until the weekend draws to a close.

π Got travel plans? Be on the lookout for road closures and tough driving conditions, especially if you’re hitting the road in high-sided vehicles. Winds could make those exposed and high-level routes a real challenge!
π§οΈ Rain is also making an appearance, particularly in a swath from Dumfries up to the north tip of mainland Scotland with warnings in place from Friday afternoon. Northern Ireland isn’t escaping either, with gusts predicted from Friday afternoon to Saturday midday.
π¬οΈ The experts say itβs going to be a windy one, with gusts reaching 70mph widely, and possibly up to 95mph in the more exposed areas of northern and western Scotland. The winds are expected to ease in most places by Saturday afternoon, but northern Scotland will feel the wild weather until Saturday night before it finally calms down.
Stay safe, wrap up warm, and keep an eye on the weather updates! π¨βοΈ
