Welsh Shot Put Sensation Funmi Oduwaiye Shines! π

Massive congrats to 22-year-old Funmi Oduwaiye for bagging the bronze at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi! π₯ With an incredible first attempt of 12.11m in the F44 event, she clinched her maiden global medal, leaving the competition behind.
Despite a nerve-wracking night before, Oduwaiye’s calm and focused mindset on the day helped her sail through. Her first throw was unbeatable, holding her lead over fourth-placed Samantha Heyison, who managed 11.33m.

Reflecting on her achievement, Funmi shared, “It feels great β Iβm so happy I can achieve this. Hopefully thereβs more to come. I just stayed calm and gave it my all.” πͺ

Balancing her athletic career with her studies in Physiological Science at the University of Bristol, this Cardiff star is on a challenging yet rewarding journey. With dreams set on the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics, there’s plenty more to look forward to.
To Funmi, itβs all about taking it step by step, with the Commonwealths and Europeans next on the horizon. Keep an eye on this powerhouse! π
Huge shoutout to all #TeamGB athletes competing and inspiring us all. π¬π§
