In true Hollywood style, Ryan Reynolds is proving he’s not just a talented actor but a genuinely caring co-owner of Wrexham AFC. When midfielder Andy Cannon suffered a devastating ACL injury earlier this year, Ryan stepped up to keep Andy’s spirits high.
The injury, which happened during a match against Mansfield Town in February, took Andy off the field right before Wrexham secured their big promotion. But even off the pitch, Andy is feeling the love from his team – especially from Ryan, who’s been sending him hilarious video clips (featuring his adorable daughter!) to lift his mood as he recovers.
Cannon joined Wrexham in December 2022 and has been crucial to their amazing journey through three successive promotions. While he’s eager to return to training by December, Ryan and the Wrexham squad are making sure he knows he’s missed until then.
Andy shared how touching it was to receive instant support messages from both Ryan and fellow co-owner Rob Mac after his injury: “As soon I did it, there were messages from both the owners. A couple of weeks ago, Ryan was sending me videos, which is still a bit mad.”
On top of Ryan’s support, Andy has leaned on teammates like James McClean, who graciously opened his home to him post-injury. This camaraderie shows Wrexham FC is more than just a team; it’s a family looking out for each other every step of the way.
