Highmead School, a landmark set in about 27 acres, has a rich history. Originally built in 1777 as a mansion, it transitioned into a boarding school by 1956. In recent years, it housed the European Institute of Human Sciences, which gained media attention in 2014 over controversial ties.

The institute was dedicated to teaching Arabic and Islamic studies, and Michael Adebowale, linked to the tragic murder of soldier Lee Rigby in 2013, briefly studied there in 2012.

Stay safe, Carmarthenshire residents, and keep an eye out for further updates. Let’s hope for quick control of the situation and minimal impact on the community. 💪👩‍🚒👨‍🚒
