Kayleigh moved into this Plasnewydd flat in April 2024, only to face worsening conditions when a leak from the upstairs flat caused a chunk of plasterboard to fall on little Billy. As a result, damp and mould spread throughout the flat, ruining everything from towels to treasured memories. 🛏️📦

Billy, once a lively child, is now plagued with health issues. Diagnosed with asthma and anaemia, he has to sleep with his mum since his bed is always damp! His condition is so serious that he’s on medication for a respiratory infection, and doctors suspect the black mould is to blame.

After losing her first child stillborn in 2017, Kayleigh lives in constant fear. “I’ve heard horror stories about mould causing fatalities. My mental health’s taken a nosedive,” she confides. 📝

The council is aware. Although they recognised the property as unfit for living and promised temporary accommodation, Kayleigh’s still waiting for a permanent solution. When three inspectors said the flat was unsuitable, Kayleigh was hopeful. But her relief was dashed when a prior inspection deemed it safe, causing a delay in moving to temporary accommodation. 🚫🏚️

The council has now stepped in, promising to address the leak and arrange temporary housing while investigating. In the meantime, Kayleigh can only hope for a quick resolution. 🛠️🔍

No family should face such struggles in their home. Let’s hope Kayleigh and Billy get the safe space they desperately need. 🌈❤️
