National Highways has reported traffic backing up for nearly an hour in both directions, with congestion stretching out over five miles. The incident was initially flagged at 2:15 pm, and though recovery efforts are in full swing, it’s still causing a knock-on effect for commuters and travellers alike.

As of the latest update, out of the four southbound lanes between J18 (M49) and J19 (A369 Portishead), only one lane remains closed. But, do brace yourselves for a slow crawl if you’re heading out that way. Also, delays are compounded on the other side due to curious onlookers slowing down.

For now, it’s unclear if there were any injuries, but let’s hope everyone involved is alright! If you’re in the area or planning to head that way, it might be wise to plan an alternative route or delay your journey if possible.
