Tragic news from Bolton as we remember Amy Louise Leonard, a 20-year-old make-up artist with an infectious spirit and a love for all things pink. Known lovingly as Amy Lou, she brought joy and vibrancy to everyone around her. Sadly, she passed away just days after confessing to her mum she had been using nitrous oxide, also known as ‘laughing gas.’

Nitrous oxide, a popular but dangerous party drug, offers brief euphoria but poses serious health risks, including oxygen deprivation, nervous system damage, and in severe cases, clots or sudden death. A devoted mother, Catrina Proctor, is now urging everyone to be aware of these dangers after Amy’s sudden hospitalisation and passing. Catrina hopes to spread awareness and prevent other families from experiencing such heartbreak.

Amy, who had a bright future in the beauty industry, was known for her warm personality and her passion for make-up artistry at the Crown of Beauty in Bolton. She had been a dedicated gym-goer and never let life’s challenges dull her sparkle, even after a car accident in 2021.
The family is organising a pink-themed service and memorial balloon release to commemorate Amy’s love for her favourite colour. To help cover unexpected funeral costs, they’ve launched a fundraising page. Catrina calls for stronger restrictions on nitrous oxide sales and urges anyone struggling to seek help.
“Balloons aren’t harmless. Let’s cherish moments with loved ones without resorting to drugs,” Catrina says. Stay informed, talk to your loved ones, and remember Amy Lou for the vibrant, joyful young woman she was. ❤️
