The Nursing and Midwifery Council heard that these actions put vulnerable patients at risk, with the panel concluding they suffered actual harm. Carter’s conduct was described as a severe breach of professional standards, putting the integrity of the nursing profession at stake.

Despite a hint of remorse about one incident, Carter showed little insight into the gravity of her actions. This led the panel to decide that allowing her to continue practising would seriously undermine public confidence in nurses.

As the appeal period is underway, Carter remains under an interim suspension. Her case stands as a reminder of the importance of trust and professionalism in healthcare.
