Congrats to Michael Jenkins! The 20-year-old Welsh athlete stunned everyone in New Delhi with a bronze at the World Para Athletics Championships. Jenkins smashed his personal best by throwing an impressive 18.84m in the F38 event, coming in just behind Colombia’s Levin Moreno Denis and Jose Lemos Rivas.

But here’s the real kicker: Jenkins used a shot put owned by his hero, the legendary Aled Davies. The Paralympic champ had wagered Jenkins could only keep it if he threw over 18.5m. Not only did Jenkins do that, but he absolutely crushed it, earning him a personal best and some serious bragging rights!
Still buzzing from his achievement, Jenkins said: “It’s unbelievable – I have no words to describe how good I feel. Wasn’t expecting nearly a 19m throw first up – I’m so happy.” Sounds like those nerves paid off big time!

Despite being unable to aim for LA 2028, as his event isn’t a Paralympic discipline, Jenkins has his sights set on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. “I’m just going to try and push as hard as I can for able-bodied,” he says about his future plans.

Here’s to big wins and even bigger dreams – onwards and upwards, Michael! 🥉💪 #Athletics #Inspiration #NewDelhi2025
