Incredible act of heroism in Llanelli! 🦸♂️ When a passerby spotted a man lying unresponsive in the town centre, Councillor Shaun Greaney didn’t hesitate. Thanks to his lifesaving CPR training, he sprang into action to help save a life, just before the first responder arrived with a defibrillator.
Cllr Greaney, who’s been championing the availability of more defibrillators across Llanelli, shared his nerve-wracking experience. With a calm head, chest compressions, and guidance from a 999 call handler, he managed to keep going until help arrived. Imagine the tension as every second ticked by!
He’s been vocal about the need for more 24/7 defibrillators, especially with our aging population and stretched emergency services. Despite having several defibrillators in town, access can be tricky after hours. Passionate about boosting availability, Cllr Greaney suggested placing them on government buildings, emphasising that it could save more lives for a relatively small investment.
Our emergency services do an incredible job every day, but this story really highlights how community members like Shaun can make a massive difference. The incident underscores the vital role of first aid knowledge and the importance of quick access to lifesaving equipment.
