The government’s winter fuel payment letters are rolling out to approximately nine million individuals across England and Wales! If you were born before 22nd September 1959, you’re in line to receive between £100 and £300 this winter. Letters detailing your specific amount are being dispatched throughout October and November.

For most, this payment will arrive automatically. However, if you’ve never had it before, or if you’ve deferred your state pension since your last winter fuel payment, you might need to claim it. Note: Claims can be made via post now or by phone from 13th October 2025. Also, watch out for fraud! Any messages prompting you to claim through texts or emails are scams. Stick to postal or phone claims to stay safe.
