Tragic news has struck a community as Olivia-Grace Huxter, a vibrant eight-year-old, passed away following a medical incident at Penrhys Primary School. The heartbroken mum of the young pupil, Melanie, shared a heartfelt tribute online, expressing her deep sorrow and love for her “beautiful baby girl.” Melanie reminisced, “I am so grateful I was able to hold you and sing you to sleep one last time… You were wanted, admired, and absolutely adored by everyone lucky enough to have known you.”

The Rhondda community has been deeply affected, with Penrhys Primary School closing for a day as staff and students mourn this devastating loss. Teachers and classmates have described Olivia-Grace as a “cherished member” of her Year Four class, emphasizing how deeply she will be missed. Local children, showing incredible generosity, spent the day gathering funds to support Olivia-Grace’s family, a gesture praised by Councillor Julie Edwards as “an amazing thing to do.”

In another emotional response, the school’s headteacher acknowledged the support from parents, emphasising the school’s unity in the face of such an unexpected incident. Gaynor Davies of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council expressed her condolences, highlighting the bond of this close-knit school community and the support services in place to help students and staff navigate this challenging time.
Let’s keep Olivia-Grace’s family and the Penrhys community in our thoughts, and remember the remarkable spirit this young girl brought into their lives.
