Nigel Farage caused quite a stir on a recent visit to Caerphilly! The Reform UK leader popped into Rosita’s cafe for a coffee, and locals had a lot to say about it. Some regulars were thrilled by the unexpected celebrity guest and his support for the local political campaign, eagerly snapping photos with him. Others, however, were less impressed, leading to vows never to return to the cafe.

Rosita’s, known for its welcoming atmosphere and delicious Welsh and Italian fare, posted about the visit on their Facebook page, sparking over a thousand comments. Opinions were sharply divided—some were excited to see Farage, while others saw it as a political endorsement not to their liking. One commenter exclaimed, “Legend! I’d have bought him a few pints!” Meanwhile, another lamented, “Thought you guys were above this… guess I’ll find another spot.”

Martin Rees, who co-owns Rosita’s with his brothers, made it clear that the cafe does not endorse any political parties. “We’re about community and open conversation,” he said, emphasising that Rosita’s is a place where differing opinions can coexist over a cuppa. “Whether it’s Nigel Farage, Keir Starmer, or any public figure, if they stop by, it’s interesting and open for all,” he added.
The visit saw lively but respectful discussions, with people from all walks of life engaging in vibrant conversations. For Rosita’s, the goal remains to be a welcoming haven for everyone, regardless of political leanings. Martin hopes even those who are upset might reconsider and return someday, “You’ll always be welcome here at Rosita’s.”
As the cafe continues to serve the community with warmth and hospitality, they pride themselves on being a part of Caerphilly’s heart—focused on unity and respect in a diverse world. So, next time you’re in town, pop by Rosita’s, where the coffee’s hot, and everyone’s welcome!
