🏉 Big news from Llansaint! The charming village is getting a boost, thanks to a nod from rugby legend Sir Gerald Davies. Born and raised in Llansaint, Sir Gerald is backing plans to transform the dear old church school building into a bustling community hub.

The proposal, championed by Hwb Llansaint CIC, aims to create a vibrant space featuring a community café and shop on the ground floor, with workspaces and a consultation room above. “Yr Ysgol Hen”, as locals fondly call it, holds a special place in the village’s heart as a historical gem. 🏫✨

Hwb Llansaint CIC is thrilled about the project, especially after successfully acquiring the building’s deeds, thanks to a £10,000 grant from Cwmpas. The former school’s journey from a thriving learning centre to a forgotten site is heartbreaking, but this renovation could breathe new life into Llansaint. With ambitious plans for public meetings, committees, and funding applications, the dream is fast becoming reality.
The village, nestled along the Wales Coast Path, has seen many beloved establishments close over the years. Yet, with this new initiative, there’s hope that Llansaint will gain a lively community spot, blending seamlessly with the existing welfare hall.
The project has received unanimous approval from the council’s planning committee, which includes installing additional windows and modern facilities, although parking remains unchanged. 🚗
Cllr Tyssul Evans, the planning committee chairman, expressed nostalgia, recalling how his grandmother once attended the school nearly a century ago. It’s time for this “venerable institution” to shine again, bringing people together and celebrating Llansaint’s rich heritage.
Here’s to reviving the past and building a bright future for this quaint village! 🌟💪
