Heartbreaking news from a family holiday in Greece. Five-year-old Theo Treharne-Jones tragically drowned in a pool at a resort in Kos after managing to unlock his family’s apartment door. The young boy, described by his parents as “loving and affectionate,” didn’t possess a sense of danger and was excited for the holiday. An inquest revealed that the couple had noticed a difference in the door’s locking mechanism compared to their previous stay, which led them to use suitcases and buggies as a precaution to block the door.

On the morning of the tragedy, Theo’s mum woke up to the sound of someone shouting about a child in the pool. Despite quick action from resort staff and holidaymakers, including CPR attempts and a rush to the hospital, Theo sadly passed away. Witnesses shared that Theo, who had the rare Smith-Magenis syndrome, had pushed his buggy to the pool on his own. Efforts were made to revive him, but it was all in vain.

This devastating incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of holiday safety, especially with young children. Our thoughts are with Theo’s family during this unimaginable time.
