A heart-wrenching story has emerged from Cardiff, as the community mourns the passing of Nickolas Robert Holbrook. Known for his struggles with obesity and mental health, the 53-year-old tragically succumbed to sepsis after refusing medical treatment for an infected sore.

On August 15, medics were finally able to transport him to the hospital, where a severe infection had already set in, leading to sepsis and multi-organ failure. Sadly, he passed away three days later. The coroner concluded that his death was due to “natural causes contributed to by self-neglect.”
