Speed limits on several roads in the Vale of Glamorgan might soon see a shake-up! Following a review aligned with the latest Welsh Government guidelines, proposed changes include increasing some limits while decreasing others. Excited to know which roads are under review?

Those possibly shifting from 20mph to 30mph include:

– Pentir Y De, Rhoose
– Parts of Llantwit Major Road
– Part of Cardiff Road (Primrose Hill) in Cowbridge

– A section of Hayes Road in Sully
On the flip side, you might soon need to slow down from 30mph to 20mph on:
– Leckwith Road, Llandough
– Main Road, Ogmore-By-Sea
– Part of Lavernock Road in Penarth
What’s more, variable speed limits may be introduced near schools for safer dropping off and picking up. The focus areas include:
– Aberthin Road near Cowbridge Comprehensive School
– Ruthin Road by Llangan Primary School
– A48 close to St Nicholas Church in Wales Primary School
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance road safety and improve air quality after the controversial 20mph limit was introduced in 2023. While it has reduced serious accidents, it stirred debate on journey times.
The Vale received 228 public responses, voicing everything from support for reverting speed limits to calls for more reductions. These proposals reflect feedback that led to analysing over a hundred roads.
Stay tuned for upcoming public consultations where you can voice your thoughts before any changes are finalised. What do you think about these modifications? Share your thoughts in the comments!
