Who says you can’t have a quality breakfast for just £1? Food critic Gary Hanna, the mastermind behind the YouTube channel Gary Eats, recently visited IKEA and tried their £1 full English breakfast. Spoiler alert: Gary rated it higher than a famous dish from a top UK celebrity chef!
On his quest to uncover the best budget eats, Gary found himself skipping IKEA’s legendary meatballs in favour of their astonishingly cheap breakfast. Available for just £1 to IKEA Family members (easy and free to join), this bargain feast is on offer until December 20th, but only on Saturdays from 9.30 to 11 am.
What’s on the plate for that jaw-dropping price? Expect bacon, sausage, hash browns, omelette, and beans in the large breakfast, or get a smaller version for £1. Gary also decided to try some extras, like black pudding for 75p and a veggie breakfast for £1.
His verdict? The sausage was “lovely and hot,” the bacon “good,” but with some critiques—like a “hard” egg and less-than-impressive vegetarian sausage. However, it ticked the right boxes for value, where he awarded it a perfect 10 stars and ultimately gave the breakfast seven out of 10 overall.
This result truly shines when compared to a similar breakfast from Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen and Bar. Priced at a hefty £19, the renowned chef’s offering didn’t win Gary over, earning just two and a half to three stars, making IKEA’s breakfast a surprisingly strong contender in the budget brunch scene.
