🔥 Arson Strikes Again at Parc Melin Mynach!
The beautiful Parc Melin Mynach in Gorseinon, Swansea, has sadly been hit by another act of arson, costing the community over £6,000 in damages. A storage container was set ablaze, destroying essential equipment used for community events and upkeep. This mindless vandalism follows previous incidents, including the destruction of a beloved birds’ nest swing and the burning of park benches.
It’s a tumultuous time for Parc Melin Mynach, but the community is determined not to be defeated. The local group, Friends of Parc Melin Mynach, urgently calls on everyone to come forward with any information, CCTV, or doorbell footage that could help track down those responsible.
👮♀️ The police and fire services are actively investigating and have stepped up patrols in the area. Sgt. Molly Llewellyn assures residents that this unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with and that officers will be working closely with the park community to ensure safety and enjoyment for all.
Despite this setback, the community spirit remains unbroken. Upcoming events like the Christmas lantern and wreath-making sessions will still light up the season, thanks to support from local councillors Andrew Stevens, Jan Curtice, and Nicola Matthews.
Want to help? A GoFundMe page has been set up to aid in replacing the lost equipment, helping ensure that Parc Melin Mynach continues to be a vibrant community hub. Together, we can rise from the ashes and reclaim the park for everyone to enjoy!
🎄 Community events are still planned! Join us at Loughor Rugby Club this November for festive fun.
