A heart-breaking yet heartwarming story unfolded in Marbella, where Lance Ridden flew out with hopes of walking his daughter, Hannah, down the aisle at her wedding. Instead of cancelling the ceremony, the family pulled together, knowing that’s what Lance would have wanted. Hannah’s brothers stepped in to walk her down the aisle, and her mum, Sue, read the heartfelt speech Lance had prepared. Sue, who initially wanted to fly home after the tragedy, decided to stay, embracing the day and making it as special as Lance had envisioned.
Lance, 66, was a beloved co-owner of a taxi business in South East London, building the company with his partner Mark over two decades. His journey in the taxi world began with his parents, Joyce and John, running cars from their home in 1967. From car washing for pocket money to becoming a business mogul, Lance’s story is one of true dedication and passion.
He was also a family man, marrying his first wife, Amanda, with whom he had Hannah, and later marrying Sue in 2005, bringing together a beautiful blended family. Sue fondly remembers their life together as “eventful and fun,” full of travel adventures and lively gatherings.
The family’s trip to Spain, planned for joy, became an unexpected testament to love, resilience, and togetherness. Lance’s love for travel, watersports, and football was only surpassed by his love for his family, and it’s evident his legacy will continue to bring them closer.
