A chilling incident in Swansea has led to a 15-month prison sentence for Jean Izquierdo, who harassed and threatened a woman he met during community service. The court heard how Izquierdo showed up at the woman’s flat with a knife, issuing threats until police intervened.
Their relationship, described as purely platonic, took a dark turn during a beach outing, where Izquierdo’s jealousy flared, leading to aggression. Later that day, things escalated as he showed up at her home, issuing threats and even sending menacing messages via WhatsApp. His ominous words, combined with his presence at her window wielding a knife, sparked fear and panic.
Police arrived to find him attempting to enter the communal area, armed and agitated. After a tense standoff, he was arrested with a knife on him. Despite accepting the possession charge, he denied the harassment allegations.
The impact on the victim has been severe, forcing her to leave Swansea temporarily. With previous convictions for similar offences, Judge Huw Rees condemned Izquierdo’s actions as both vindictive and demeaning, highlighting that jealousy fuelled his harassment.
