🌟 Calling all hillwalkers in Scotland! 🌟 Have you ever dreamed of finding something truly out of this world during your adventures? Well, now’s your chance! Researchers are buzzing with excitement about a “fireball” meteor that blazed across the Scottish sky back in July. This dazzling celestial event means meteorite fragments could be scattered across the Highlands!

The UK Fireball Alliance has been hard at work tracing the path of this meteor, and they reckon pieces might be lying around Stob Coire, Easain, and Chno Dearg. But for those really keen, head over to Ben Alder—it’s got the best odds for a discovery due to its exposed granite plateau! Imagine spotting dark, space rock against the backdrop of the Highlands!

Prof. Luke Daly from the University of Glasgow, leading the charge, emphasizes how these rocks are like time capsules from the early Solar System, offering clues about its formation. Time is ticking to find these treasures before they weather away, so your help could be vital!
👀 What to look for? You’re after black, shiny rocks that might appear glassy or even a tad rusty due to iron content. They’ll stand out, looking heavy for their size.
🔍 Found something suspicious? Snap a pic, note the GPS location, and send it to the UK Fireball Alliance. If you can, wrap smaller finds in foil or a clean sandwich bag for safekeeping. Larger pieces? Just mark the spot!
Jamie Shepherd from the UK Meteor Network says any discovery will be “history-making.” So, next time you’re trekking a Munro, keep those eyes peeled—scotland’s hills might just be hiding a cosmic secret! 🌌✨
Happy hunting, explorers! 🥾🔭
