In a heartbreaking turn of events, the world of boxing has been rocked by a devastating accident involving former heavyweight champ, Anthony Joshua. While travelling in Nigeria, Joshua was injured in a terrible car crash that tragically claimed the lives of two of his close friends and team members.

The incident occurred on a highway near Lagos, when the vehicle, driven by Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, collided with a stationary truck. Joshua, along with his personal trainer Latif Ayodele and strength coach Sina Ghami, were in the vehicle at the time.

Captured on a video in visible pain, Joshua was quickly taken to hospital with injuries, thankfully later discharged. However, Ayodele and Ghami didn’t survive, prompting tributes and condolences to flood in from boxing enthusiasts across the globe. 💔🥊

The driver, Mr. Kayode, 46, has now been charged with serious offences, including death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, and driving without due care. Further complicating matters, it appears he was also without a valid driver’s licence at the time of the crash.

The case is due to be revisited in court on January 20, as the boxing world grapples with the loss of two of its promising stars and the ongoing support for Joshua during this distressing time.
